Itinerary

3 Days Tour from Marrakech to Merzouga Desert

Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Boumalne Dades

Your 3 days desert tour from Marrakech to Merzouga begins in the morning, when a professional driver-guide from Sahara Quad Experience VIP picks you up from your accommodation in Marrakech. The journey starts by crossing the High Atlas Mountains, where panoramic views, mountain villages, and winding roads create a stunning introduction to southern Morocco.

The first major stop is the legendary Ait Ben Haddou, a fortified village that feels frozen in time. Walking through its earthen alleys, you’ll discover a place that has witnessed centuries of history, once home to traders, nomads, and caravans. After exploring the kasbah and enjoying lunch nearby, the journey continues toward Ouarzazate, a city known for its cinematic landscapes and desert charm.

As the day progresses, the scenery shifts once again while traveling toward the Dades Valley. Rock formations, valleys, and changing colors dominate the landscape. Upon arrival, you’ll settle in for the night, enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner, and relax in a peaceful setting surrounded by nature.

Day 2: Boumalne Dades – Todra Gorges – Merzouga Desert

After breakfast, the adventure continues toward the impressive Todra Gorges. These towering canyon walls offer one of the most dramatic natural sights in Morocco, with sheer cliffs carved by time and water. You’ll have time to walk through the gorge, admire its scale, and take memorable photos before continuing the journey.

Later in the day, the landscape gradually becomes more arid as you approach Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara Desert. Upon arrival, camels await to take you on a memorable trek across the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi. As the sun sets, the desert transforms into a canvas of warm colors, creating a truly magical atmosphere.

The evening is spent in a desert camp deep in the dunes, where you’ll enjoy a traditional dinner, local music around the fire, and a night under a sky illuminated by countless stars. The silence and vastness of the Sahara make this night one of the most memorable moments of the tour.

Day 3: Merzouga – Draa Valley – Marrakech

The final day begins early with a peaceful camel ride back across the dunes, allowing you to witness the desert at sunrise. After breakfast, the journey heads north through the scenic Draa Valley, an area known for its palm groves, historic villages, and striking desert architecture.

Passing through Rissani and other small settlements, you’ll notice beautifully crafted doors, traditional buildings, and remnants of Morocco’s caravan-era heritage. The route continues through Nqob and Tamnougalt before reaching Ouarzazate once again, where there is time for a lunch stop.

In the afternoon, the road climbs back through the Atlas Mountains, offering final panoramic views before arriving in Marrakech in the evening.
